In 2010,  the UNC School of Medicine’s Office of Research saw a need to offer geriatric- and aging-related training and research to medical students. 16 years later, their solution — the Medical Student Training in Aging Research Program — has expanded to provide opportunities to more than twice  the number of students it could at the time of its founding.

UNC's graduate student and family apartments to transition to undergraduate housing

Starting fall 2028, Baity Hill —  an on-campus apartment complex for graduate students and student families — will transition to undergraduate housing.

The UNC Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies hosted their annual debate for the three 2025-26 student body presidential candidates on Wednesday.

Jakob Williams is currently serving as secretary of the Undergraduate Student Body. His campaign motto, “A Carolina We Believe In,” echoes the values of his platform, promoting diversity, accessibility and belonging in policies that reflect the student body.

Amid student organization budget decreases, some student groups share experiences

After the student organization budget decreased for the 2024-25 academic year, some student organizations have found it difficult to maintain operations.

Andrew Forbes, treasurer of the Undergraduate Student Government, wrote in a statement to The Daily Tar Heel that this year, the USG is distributing a budget of roughly $1.2 million to registered student organizations.
